Best Nature and Parks (RV, National, Dog, etc) in Sevierville
"Located on 47-acres of the former Howell Nurseries just five minutes from Holston River Park , The Knoxville Botanical Garden and Arboretum has a lot going on and even more attractions coming soon, including a butterfly meadow and outdoor classroom. On the northwest side of Wimpole Avenue, wedding parties, professional photographers, and tour groups traipse amongst the transportive stone terraces and gatehouses near the KGBA Visitor's Center, escaping to a whimsical land pulled from the mind of stonemason Joe Howell. This is easily the most picturesque part of the gardens, with wide meandering lawns stretching between impressive stonework and booming flowerbeds."
"The Knoxville Botanical Garden and Arboretum is one of many cool things to do in this lovely Tennessee city – and, better yet, it’s 100% free!. Termed as one of the most beautiful places in the USA, the property spans 47 acres and can be dated back to 1786 when it was a horticultural business privately owned by a family. The patriarch of the family was David Howell, a veteran of the Revolutionary War."
"In East Knoxville, the Knoxville Botanical Garden and Arboretum was founded to preserve the Howell family’s history, who owned the property in the late 1700s. American Revolutionary War veteran David Howell planted an orchard, where he began selling fruits and vegetables to local families. He also started selling trees, seeds and small plants to westbound settlers."
Patriot Park
4.6 (1880 ratings)4.5 (427 ratings)
Riverside park dedicated to veterans, with a gazebo, walking trail, monuments & community events.
"Patriot Park is a quaint park that’s dedicated to wartime veterans and sits along the river’s edge. It’s a perfect spot to go for a picnic, have some time of quiet reflection or respect the county’s veterans. The park isn’t huge, at only 16 acres, but its proximity to nearby shops and restaurants makes this green space perfect for a quick outdoor getaway in the middle of the day."
"For a slow, casual day out, spend it in Patriot Park along Old Mill Square. This park is dedicated to the veterans of war who lived in Sevier County."
"Sevierville City Park has a number of amenities for families of every variety, including basketball courts, picnic shelters, and walking trails. Of course, these are all in addition to the indoor and outdoor pools. Spend a few hours on the playground or squeeze in a match on the tennis courts before cooling off under the surface."
Mouse Creek Falls
4.8 (52 ratings)4.5 (51 ratings)
Tiered cascades & a swimming hole reached by a trail that follows an old railway line.
"This is a great hike for novice hikers as this trail is relatively smooth, and is a gradual climb of only 605 feet over the course of the two miles to the 45-foot Mouse Creek Falls. The Big Creek Trail follows an old railroad grade, built by the Crestmont logging company in the early 1900's to haul lumber out of the mountains during the logging boom. The trail was improved by the Civilian Conservation Corp in the 1930s when it was converted for hiking use."
"Mouse Creek Falls is another recommended option for visitors who want to enjoy nature without the crowds. The trail leading to this 45-foot cascade is a moderately difficult, four-mile round-trip hike along the Big Creek Trail, which passes another smaller waterfall along the way at Midnight Hole. This trail, which was originally a route to transport logs in the early 20th century, was converted into a hiking trail in the 1930s."
"Mouse Creek Falls is a 45 foot high waterfall that tumbles over moss covered rocks. It’s a natural, scenic sight and a bench is even available for you to sit down and admire its beauty."
