The Roaring Fork area gets its name from the fast-flowing mountain streams in the park. The Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail is narrow and winding, encouraging you to slow down and check out the historic buildings and waterfalls you can see from the road. It is a 5.5-mile, one-way loop that provides you with beautiful views of the forest, mills and more. Just after you enter the loop, there is a parking area where you can walk through the Ogle homestead and take a five-mile hike to Rainbow Falls. The trailhead for Grotto Falls can also be found on the motor trail. The journey ends at the Place of a Thousand Drips, a waterfall that exists during wet weather. There is a low-cost booklet that you can purchase as you enter the motor trail that will provide you with additional information about the sites you will see.
